Hey Sara. What are we working on?
A cold email to a founder I want to interview. Feels a little stiff.
Send me what you have. I will read it back and mark the one line that is doing all the work, and the two that are getting in the way.
"Hi Julian, I'm writing to see if you might be open to a 20 minute conversation about how you built Basin from the first hire to Series A."
The Basin line is doing the work. It is specific and flattering without asking for anything you have not earned.
"I'm writing to see if you might be open to" is where it goes stiff. Try: “Would you have 20 minutes to talk about how you built Basin from the first hire to Series A?”
