How to make a SaaS launch video with Claude Code

A product launch video is the short film you post on launch day: on X, LinkedIn, Product Hunt and the top of your homepage. It is often the first thing people see of a new SaaS product, so it decides whether they click. The problem is that a good one usually needs a motion designer, After Effects and a week.

You can now make one with an AI coding tool instead. This guide covers how long a launch video should be, the structure that works, and how to build yours with Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable from a product launch video template.

What is a SaaS launch video?

A SaaS launch video is a short promo, usually 20 to 60 seconds, that introduces a new app or feature. It is not a full product demo. Its only job is to answer three questions fast: what is it, why should I care now, and what do I do next. A longer walkthrough belongs on your website, in a product video section below the hero.

How long should a product launch video be?

Aim for 30 to 60 seconds, and never more than 90. For X and LinkedIn feeds, under 30 seconds works better, because most people scroll past within the first few seconds and watch with the sound off. Product Hunt does not set a length, but its advice is a quick demo. Our launch video templates run 25 to 28 seconds, which leaves room to add a few seconds of your own product footage.

The structure of a launch video that works

1. A hook in the first three seconds. Two or three short lines about the problem, big enough to read on a phone with no sound. 2. The product name. One clean reveal with your tagline. 3. Three features, one scene each. Show the product doing the thing, not a list of bullet points. 4. One call to action. Where to get it: your web address, the App Store or "available today".

On Product Hunt, do not ask for upvotes in the video. The rules forbid it. Ask people to try the product and leave feedback instead.

How to make a launch video with Claude Code

The most common way to make videos with Claude Code today is Remotion, a React video framework. It works, but you need Node, a Remotion project, a terminal render step and a fair amount of prompting before anything looks good. A launch video template skips all of that. It is one HTML file: the film is drawn live in the browser on an animated gradient, and an export button saves a 1080p MP4. Nothing to install.

Step 1. Pick the film closest to your product: the app launch video for a SaaS or mobile app, the AI app launch video for an AI assistant or chatbot, the notes app launch video for a productivity tool, the SaaS product launch video for a B2B tool, or the liquid glass app launch video for the glass look Apple made popular. Step 2. Copy the code and paste it into Claude Code, Cursor or Lovable. Step 3. Describe your product and ask for the changes, using a prompt like the ones below. Step 4. Open the file, check the film, and press Export MP4.

Prompts to customise your launch video

For a SaaS or mobile app:

"This is a launch video template. Turn it into the launch video for [product], a [one line on what it does]. Write three short hooks about the problem it solves, use our name and tagline, and make the three feature scenes show [feature 1], [feature 2] and [feature 3]. Redraw the phone screens so they look like our app. Use our brand colours [hex codes]. Keep the timing and the export."

For an AI product:

"Make this the launch video for [AI product]. Replace the prompt and answer with a real example of what people ask it, change the file scene to a document our users work with, and make the voice scene a question our users would say out loud. End on [closing line]."

Ask for one change at a time once the first version works, for example "make the hook 20% slower" or "add a scene with our dashboard after the second feature". Every frame is a function of time, so the preview, scrubbing and export always match.

Where to use your launch video

Post it on X and LinkedIn on launch day, add it as the first item in your Product Hunt gallery, and put it on your homepage in a product video section or behind the play button of a hero. If you are building the whole launch with AI, the animated gradient sections use the same look as the films, and full app sets like the AI chat app templates, notes app templates and fintech app templates give you matching pages. For the rest of the page, see the sections every AI landing page needs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best length for a SaaS launch video?

30 to 60 seconds for Product Hunt and your homepage, and under 30 seconds for X and LinkedIn feeds. Never more than 90 seconds.

Can Claude Code make videos?

Yes. Claude Code can write code that draws a video frame by frame. The common route is Remotion, which needs a React project and a render step. A launch video template is a single HTML file that exports an MP4 in the browser, so there is nothing to set up.

Do I need After Effects to make a product launch video?

No. A code-based template gives you motion, timing and a 1080p export, and your AI coding tool changes the words, screens and colours for you.

What should I put in a Product Hunt launch video?

A hook about the problem, your product name, three features shown working, and a call to try it. Do not ask for upvotes, which Product Hunt's rules do not allow.

Can I add music to my launch video?

Yes. Export the MP4, then add a track in any video editor, or ask your AI tool to add one. The templates' cuts follow a 120 beats per minute grid, so most tracks line up.
