What makes a good empty state?

Saying why the screen is empty and exactly what fills it. A line of grey text saying nothing here yet tells the user something they can already see and leaves them with nowhere to go.

Should an empty state have two actions?

Usually. One for people ready to create something and one for people who need to find something first. Most empty lists stay empty because the user has nothing to add yet.

Do empty states affect retention?

They are one of the first screens a new user reaches, and a dead end there is a common place to lose people before they see what the product does.

How do I wire the actions?
